Here are a few things you might want to know about the work I do

I am the author of the award winning book My New Friend Grief: Reflections on Life and Loss. I hold a BA in Interdisciplinary Humanities from Michigan State University and an MSW from the University of Michigan, School of Social Work.

I am a Reiki Master and Certified Yoga Teacher (RYT-200). I am also a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT).

I am a writer, artist, and speaker. I facilitate classes, workshops, and retreats in and around Michigan.

Here is what I want you to know about who I am

As I grieved the loss of my father, after his unexpected death in 2010, I gave myself the gifts of time and space to explore my interests in spirituality, art, and life after loss. It was the first time since I became a mother that I had given myself time and space for much of anything. I was desperate to do GRIEF right and knew the only way out was to try to allow myself to move through it.

In both my study and in my own experience, I found that what most of us crave at every level of our being is connection connection to each other, to a Higher Power, to the Earth, and, especially, to ourselves. Sadly, we are moving further from making these connections each day. We are juggling multiple demands as workers, wives, mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends. We are more disconnected than ever before. In all of my work, my intention is to create a safe space for you to reconnect with yourself and to experience these other powerful connections.

I center my work around the creative process. I integrate aspects of yoga and meditation to honor the mind, body, and spirit connection.

I recognize and appreciate the many gifts that are unearthed in the processes of writing and making art, and in the quiet space yoga and meditation provide. I believe these tools open the doors to our hearts, and that living from the heart is the key to a peaceful, joyful existence.

My greatest gift is my ability to meet you where you are without judgment. My varied life experiences have helped me to understand that there are many ways for us to experience life in this world, and there is no “right” way for everyone.

I trust in the good in everyone and I am passionate about providing opportunities for you to tune into your own unique goodness, your wholeness, and the truth and wisdom that reside within you. I do this with great love and compassion.

I am a white, heterosexual, full-figured, cisgendered woman. I identify as an intersectional feminist. I understand that humans are complex beings with multiple and ever-changing layers, beliefs, values, and identities. I love that about other humans and I love that about myself.

I am Mom to three children – two boys and a girl. I live in Brighton, Michigan with my husband, our children, and our two dogs. As a family we love making jokes around the dinner table, traveling, and spending time on Lake Michigan. I love Instagram (you can get a glimpse of my feed below), stargazing, sunsets, and coffee with friends. As I get older, I'm also appreciating the sunrise, but I tend not to be a morning person. I adore my family -- quirks and all. Thank you for allowing me to introduce myself. I'd love to hear from you if you have the time!
